Drug Endangered Children
Children found in homes where drugs (such as methamphetamine) are produced or used are at increased risk for physical, emotional and developmental harm. Wisconsin is currently developing a statewide Drug Endangered Children (DEC) program and Patti Herman, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin, is a member of the statewide steering committee. The Wisconsin DEC program will provide support to counties or communities as they develop strategies to intervene on behalf of children affected by their parents' use, manufacture or trafficking of drugs.
A statewide website is currently under construction and we will be promoting it as soon as it is available to the public. In the meantime, feel free to contact Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin for more information about statewide DEC activities, and check out the following national links for helpful information.
